Dr. Valerie Newsome Garcia is an Assistant Professor in the Master of Public Health program at Morehouse School of Medicine. In this capacity, she merges her background in Psychology (Florida A&M University; B.S., M.S.) and Biobehavioral Health (Pennsylvania State University; Ph.D.) to elucidate the social and cultural drivers of health behavior. Dr. Newsome Garcia is also Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Division of Health and Behavior in the Department of Population Health at NYU School of Medicine and in the Department of Applied Psychology at NYU. Her work addresses the social, environmental, and structural determinants of HIV and chronic disease.
